# Flamenco Tip: Begin with Rhythm, Alignment, and Patience in Your First Class

**Think of your first Flamenco class as a starting point, not an exam.** Rather than chasing every detail at once, listen for the rhythm, keep your posture aligned yet at ease, and allow each movement to settle.

**Lead with the counts and accents.** Work through the footwork slowly first, then add arms or other expressive elements. Breaking a combination into smaller parts can make unfamiliar material more manageable.

**Questions and corrections are part of learning.** American Dance Institute invites dancers to approach new material with curiosity and patience instead of expecting instant perfection.
